window on the world

Life rolls along tickety bo of late at the campground. bbf#2 came and went (sob), a lovely visit was had with him.  We got to have some great quality visiting time while he was here.

Much of the visiting time was held on the front porch of the office. It has a great front deck where generally the hanging out takes place. People come and go in the conversation. Most importantly it’s got a great view of the whole campground, and so is the prime spot (well for me anyway!) to people watch.

It’s a pretty unique experience, as apposed to people watching in an airport or bus station (my personal fav)… you are essentially watching people live. Set up for supper, hang their wet towels, sit and read, have arguments, all the stuff that’s day to day life…. all from a spectators vantage point.

Truth be known, I’m a gossip, i just can’t help myself. Was born, bred and raised as such. Though i think the word “gossip” is a harsh a word… i like to think i’m an appreciator of a good story. So this window on the world fascinates me to no end. Fortunately there are others, bbf#1 most especially who indulge me in my musings around what i see.

A few days ago there was the most interesting vignette. To the left parks an extended family who’ve been here for awhile. An RV, with a few tents, cars,  bmx bikes, and about 7 or 8 people come and go. They are the modern family,  teen/early adults to a few youngsters, some pierced, tight jeans, not what i’d expect to see camping, but camping they are.

Then to the right, in the spot pretty much beside them roll up a Mennonite family. Father, mother and about 7 kids. The contrast was stark on one hand,  but there was this amazing similarity between the groups. All working together to set the place up, all sitting down for a meal, all bonding over a similar camping life.

all unfolding in front of me as we sat on the deck gossiping… err musing about it!
