Ever since we “almost” got to the paragliding spot last mountain ascent attempt, deb deb’s had a mission….Â
So yesterday, despite her feeling low energy with a cold coming on, and me feeling low energy cause i cleaned the house thinking it’d be a good warm up (duh)… we headed off. We weren’t even at the start of the trail when we both agreed maybe today wasn’t going to be the day.
As we forged on, we were both pleasntly surprised at how quickly each of now recognized milestones came up… gave us a little hope to be sure.Â
As we passed the spot that we turned around last time, i started go feel psyched out… visions of the painful decent last time played with my mind. I kept going but after awhile, my mind got the better of me, and as i looked up yet another steep climb, i stopped.
It was obvious to me there was no stopping deb deb, she was on a mission, and well i know what that means…Â nothing was going to stop her at that point. NOTHING
So i did my pitiful girl act and said in a weak and pathetic voice… “you go on honey, i’ll take a break here, them maybe head back down, call me on my cell if the top’s just around the next corner!”
So off she went, and down the mountain i hobbled, a sad sight to be sure. 20 minutes later she called to say she’d made it and it was an amazing sight…. sigh said i
I made my way slowly down the mountain, and just when i was truly and utterly in pain and agony, my knees screaming at me at every step… two trucks stopped to ask me if i wanted a ride. HELL YEA! They said they had just passed deb deb jogging down the mountain (bitch) and she asked them if they’d stop for me.
So i hopped in and we had a great ride down the steepest part of that damn mountain, my knees thanking me every inch of the way.
It was great fun, and we even went off on a little side trip down a secondary trail for a bit, was quite the adventure. As we got down a bit more we stopped to let one of the truck’s brakes (yikes!) cool off.
As we were standing around yacking who but the energetic looking deb deb shows up making her way down the mountain looking fresher than when we started the climb!
Since i knew the steepest part was behind us,  i joined her….  my ego needed a bit of a boost by then!
The good news is i can actually walk today, and though my ego is a little bruised, i know in the end i will make it up there… though it might take another time or two!
