Back to slacker blogging routine of late. Not a whole lot going on around these here parts to report. Random stuff today.
I’m personally focusing on getting some paying work done, deb’s focused on helping joe find work, place to live… all those things real life is made of!
The job search is tough going, would not want to be in youthful shoes these days. Recession, more workers than jobs, it’s a huge task for he young and hopeful. He’s remaining optimistic, pounding that old pavement like a trooper.
He did manage to find a room, and was able to move in right away. California reality hit big the search… for the mere monthly rate of half your hopeful salary you get to share a small home with a cast of thousands, and not even get your own room to boot! Makes this 100 sq ft place seem palatial!
But i digress… the point to the ramble is in one foul swoop friday we lost our trusty travelling companion. It seems a little lonely around here without his cheery face! Not that we aren’t loving our space back to just the two of us, but he added a great element to life, so feeling that loss. Fortunately he’s nearby, and am sure we can convince him to come by for a supper now and then.
Apart from being a fountain of knowledge in many areas of music, movies, and more… he was a big hit with all the kids we met along the journey…Â pssst it’s not widely known, but he’s actually a big kid himself !
Random bit #2. After much consideration over the past weekend, we’ve decided to stay put in Felton, rather than go up to the paradise offering up in the mountains. It was a hard decision, as it really was an amazing spot and opportunity…. and maybe one day we will manage it.
In the end, though not paradise, this spot is works well for family, proximity and all things logical and practical.
It’s actually not a bad plan b, we are within a walk from Felton, we (well the dogs) have our own fenced in small yard, have access to a lovely private woods, and are only one of two trailers here, so it feels more like a home spot than a camping spot.
Once settled, and recovered from the trauma of mega maneuvering… we’ve spent some of the past few days exploring and finding some favorite spots.
Happy to report we found a great sunday breakfast haunt, two cafe’s, an amazing grocery store, off leash dog walk, and a variety of other stopping spots. So feet getting slowly planted in terra firma.
And in a random item #3… segue from speaking of a short walk to Felton. A day or so deb went and got the truck’s oil changed in Santa Cruz. She had the asshole err fellow check the fluids, brakes and all that good stuff post a 8,000 km trip. He came up with a quote for $1200 and a list as long as two arms and legs of stuff needing to be done.
Today deb walked it down to Felton to get the smaller garage here to check the truck out. We just got the call… $250 to fix the back brakes, so far nothing else….. WTF? i say…. am totally fuming.
So to you asss hat, BLOW IT OUT YOUR SKINNY LITTLE REAR END… grrrrrrrrrrr
