Santa Fe to Paradise.
What can i say, i’m home. We are home. There is no other place on earth but here… within this amazing landscape. It’s so hard to describe, this place called New Mexico.
There’s a harshness, a ruggedness, a land that looks very hard to survive in. It’s big, broad and goes on for miles, with huge, huge sky. It seems to change every 15 minutes as you are driving through it. The closest i can come to is it’s similar in some ways to an ocean landscape, but infinatly more interesting, as in that vastness of ocean, there’s mountains, mesas, rock of all color and size. (picture of deb/trailer below outside of Madrid, NM)… probably the best picture i’ve taken to date that in my mind show’s even a fraction of what it looks like.

We are staying at the campground of friends of deb, El Morro RV park and Cabins. It’s the nicest place we’ve been to date. (except no cell access… connectivity be gone!). We have a lovely spot, with a view out to the brush, and within a short walk to some great hikes, an amazing cafe on the grounds… and the funkiest people we’ve run across to date on our travels.
The place is 7,800 ft in elevation, and the view goes on for miles. There’s a mesa just behind us, so we went on a hike up to watch the sun go down.
The view from the top of the mesa behind the campground. You can see the trailers below.
It’s hard to tell, but we are quite far up. Picture below the view from below.
There’s such a spiritual energy about the place. Even the trees have a spirt to them. At the top of the mesa there were these trees that actually vibrate when you put your hands on them. They are clearly older than old, and survive up there in that harsh and beautiful land.
