As the days in gibson’s wind down, deb deb and i have realized some oversights in the folly known as our traveling ways. We are scrambling to rectify them. “Oversights” include; getting our lady parts, teeth, and truck checked.. in no particular order, and our taxes done.
Taxes got done last week or so, then Monday came and i got a bee in the old bonnet to procrastinate no more.
Getting doctors appointments were the biggest hurdle to get over. I keep saying to deb i want to keep my Canadian residency because i feel more reassured that in being taken care of by our lovely FREE medical system… uh what planet have i been on?
First of all, in BC, it’s not free. As self employed people, we pay $150/month for this free service… and taken care of? Tis official… i’m seriously delusional.
Firstly there’s the small matter of getting a doctor…. holy fuck batman, doctors taking new patients are about as rare as a green hornet sighting in these here parts.
Here’s how the game went… and believe me i felt like i was playing a high stakes Texas hold-em match.
Made an appointment at the local walk in clinic to see a nurse to get our lady part #2 annual test done. Of course she can do the test, but where the test results go to get evaluated still a mystery (same with blood tests).
According to said clinic, we can see a doctor as a walk in patient, but we only get a 5 min appointment, and well no, there are no doctors at the clinic taking new patients. KLUNK (sound of head hitting wall)
According to the walk in clinic, we can get our test done for lady part #1A and B over at the local hospital’s xray dept… cool says i. Phoned to make an appointment, and well…. they can only book a test if we have a doctor. Uh no doctor. no test. KRACK (sound of head hitting nother wall)
Oh wait she says, there’s a handy dandy website where you can search for doctors by region that are taking new patients. yay says i. Phone the first 6 numbers. Nada. not a doctor to be had. KAPOOF (sound of bruised and battered head hitting another wall)
Finally, lucky number sleven i find a doctor’s taking new patients…. hmmm i wonder what his credentials are. at this point a one eyed doctor with a hearing problem is a match says i.
So, all that in place for the next two weeks, i’ll report back… well report back on how the 7th ranked doctor is, not on the status of our lady parts, a girl’s got to keep somethings out of the blog!
